EGGS: A SPECIAL FOOD INSTRUCTIONS: Add the water to the bowl and then dip one egg at a time: • The fresh egg will lie flat at the bottom; • The week old egg will lie with a slight tilt at the bottom; • The 2-3 week old egg will stand vertically at the bottom without fully rising to the surface; • The old egg will float. WHAT CAN WE OBSERVE? Why do some eggs float and others don’t? After the hen has laid its eggs, an air chamber is created between the shell and the egg white. This small “air bag” is initially small, but stores more air and increases in size as the days go by.
